THE SPRING BRIDE’S GUIDE TO LIP COLOR

Wednesday, September 19, 2012

Your spring wedding is finally here. You’ve painstakingly picked the perfect flowers, dresses, and accessories that coordinate with your fabulous spring color palette. But don’t forget the most important color of all: your lip color!
The right bridal lip color should not only be seasonally appropriate, but it should also photograph well, wear well, and most importantly, look great in person—and it can be difficult to find a color that makes the cut.
As a makeup artist, I have applied countless combinations of glosses, pencils, and lipstick to find the perfect color for my bridal clients. Even if they already have a great color in their arsenal, I like to find something a little bit different. Who wants to wear the same old lip color on your special day?
Here are my tips for picking the perfect spring shade on your big day.
Keep it cool
For the spring, I recommend using colors with cooler tones than you would in the summer or fall. Purple or blue toned pinks are my favorite in a creamy lipstick or gloss.
Here are my tried and true bridal spring lip colors:
  • Laura Mercier Crème Lip Colour in Dry Rose. Wear alone or topped with a light pink gloss for more shine.
  • Bobbi Brown Lip Gloss in Hot Pink. For a deeper look and more longevity, fill in your lips with M.A.C lip liner in Dervish.
  • Bobbi Brown Blue Raspberry Creamy Lip Color. Looks amazing on fair skin.
